The
Cleveland Cavaliers faced the
Orlando Magic at the Rocket Mortgage Center for the second game of the West first round. The Cavs continue to look solid against a young Magic team that's been struggling a lot against Cleveland's defense.
Donovan Mitchell was the man of the Cavs offense, scoring. Statement win for Cleveland 96-86
After a hard-fought first game between the 4th and the 5th seeded in the Eastern Conference, this second matchup was surprisingly easier for the Cavs. Despite Orlando's adjustments, Cleveland dominated from the tip off and was always ahead on the scoreboard.
Orlando missed their best defender,
Jalen Suggs, who had to exit the game in the first quarter with a knee sprain. Luckily, he was able to return by the third quarter.
Donovan Mitchell and
Jarrett Allen were key for J.B. Bieckerstaf's team. Mitchell is a reliable playmaker and an instant offense player, able to give you easy scoring when needed. Jarrett Allen is perhaps one of the most overlooked players in this series, as he's dominating the boards thanks to Orlando's lack of bigs.
Spida led the Cavs with his 23 points and 8 rebounds. The All-star guard finished with an acceptable 43% from the field. Jarrett Allen was fantastic on the boards once again, grabbing 20 rebounds alongside with 15 points. Evan Mobley and Darius Garland also contributed with 17 and 15 points each.
Orlando's offense was in charge of the former rookie of the year
Paolo Banchero, who scored 21 points. Franz Wagner finished with 18 points and Gary Harris came up with 14 points.
The series moves to Florida to resume on Thursday. The Magic will need to find better ways to score against the Cavs, otherwise this series could be over before it's expected.
