It has been quite the season for Jalen Green of the Houston Rockets, filled with both good and bad, ups and downs, disappointments and triumphs. However, it is impossible to deny that the last few weeks have been wonderful for Green.
Since the end of February, Green has averaged 29.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. And although he is putting up nearly 30 points a game, Tim MacMahon is reporting that the team is most excited by the guard's defensive skills.
MacMahon reported:
"You ask Ime Udoka about Jalen Green and he didn’t talk about the fact this guy’s put up 30 per game over a 10-game winning streak. He didn’t talk about the scoring. He talks about the progress he’s made as a defender, as a rebounder.
The writer went on about what is most exciting the team and the hopes they have for Green:
"He had 10 rebounds again last night, as a facilitator making the right reads. He had seven assists last night. I think four of those were in the last minute or so of the fourth quarter. So there’s certainly optimism that a 22-year-old who’s had a rocky rollercoaster career, that was the number two overall pick, is turning a corner… The Rockets believe and have data to back up that he can be the best non-big defender in the NBA really soon."
When this season began, it seemed like Green was having some trouble finding the right rhythm under new head coach Ime Udoka. The additions of Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks also complicated matters and Green had to adjust to sharing the ball with them.
Most of the 2023-25 campaign has been a mixed bag for the Rockets star but he has been doing so much better lately and again looks like one of the most important players for the team.
Green's surge in production comes right as the team is going on a long, impressive, 11-game win streak. They are now right behind the Golden State Warriors in the standings and they could surpass Steph Curry and his squad in the next few days, assuring a spot in the Play-In Tournament.
That would be quite the turnaround from only a few weeks ago when Green started to heat up and push the team in the right direction.

Jalen Green in the last 15 games: 29.2 PTS | 6.2 REB | 3.7 AST | 61.8 TS% Breaking it down by Quarter: Q1: 7.6 PTS | 55% TS% Q2: 5.1 PTS | 59% TS% Q3: 11.2 PTS | 74% TS% ‼️ Q4: 5.0 PTS | 51% TS% 3rd Quarter Jalen is a real thing.
