Good news for basketball fans, the veteran point guard completed his first 10 days with the Phoenix Suns last friday and was offered to continue for another 10 days. Coaching staff and team members are very glad to count with the experience and leadership he brings to the squad.
Isaiah Thomas is remembered as that talented point guard that led the 2017 Boston Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals only to lose against those LeBron James' Cavs who back then where going to every NBA Finals. Now he's in his second Phoenix Suns' experience, since Isiah was playing with the Suns before being traded to the Celtics, where he finally ended up peaking.
Thomas wasn't playing in the NBA since the 2021-22 season, when he played for three different franchises — the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and the Charlotte Hornets. Before that he was in impressive form in the G-League where he was playing for the Salt Lake City Stars which is the affiliate of the Utah Jazz franchise. In four games for the City Stars, he ended up registering 32.5 points per game to go with 5.25 assists as well.
With Frank Vogel and the rest of the team happy with Isaiah's presence, it's expectable that he'll end up remaining with the franchise at least for the remainder of the season. For Thomas, it could be a very exciting experience, since he's part of a team surrounded with excellent talent, such as Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. The Suns are on a mission to improve what they did last year, when they were stopped by the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs.
