A rematch of the 2023 Western Conference Semifinals did not
disappoint, as the
Los Angeles Lakers beat the
Golden State Warriors 145-144 in
double overtime at the Chase Center behind a historic
LeBron James performance.
LeBron James led the Lakers with 36 points, 20 rebounds, and
12 assists on 56% shooting, including hitting the 2 final free throws in double
overtime to give the Lakers the lead in what possibly was the most entertaining
game of the year. Tonight’s triple double was his 3rd this season
and 139th in his career. In his 21st season, LeBron James
is still putting up remarkable stats, averaging 24.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, and
7.5 assists.
Anthony Davis chipped in with 29 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists,
and 4 blocks while D’Angelo Russell contributed with 28 points, 3 rebounds, and
5 assists, including hitting clutch 3 pointers down the stretch of regulation
and the overtime periods.
For the Warriors,
Stephen Curry put on a heroic effort, as
he finished with 46 points, 3 rebounds, and 7 assists on 17 made baskets,
including 9 made three pointers. Meanwhile, Klay Thompson contributed 24
points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists while starting wings Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan
Kuminga each finished with 22 points.
Tonight’s win is huge for the Lakers, as they are currently
the 9 seed and fighting for the playoffs. They are on a 2 game winning streak
and will face off against the Houston Rockets on Monday night.
Meanwhile, for the Warriors, this loss is a stinger, as they
are fighting for a play-in spot. They currently sit at 12th in the
Western Conference with a record of 19-24, which puts them 3 games behind the
10th seeded Utah Jazz. The Warriors are currently on a 2 game losing
streak and over the last 10 games, Golden State is 3-7. Their next matchup will
be on Tuesday night against the Philadelphia 76ers.
