Today seems a good day to take a look at the stats as
LeBron James has become this Sunday the first human being (sure he is a human being?) to surpass 40,000 points in the NBA.
The King managed to oust Kareem Abdul-Jabbar from the throne of the league's top scorer a few months ago and against Denver Nuggets he managed to overcome the barrier that seemed impossible of 40K.
Thus, the list of top scorers in league history, with LeBron as the King of the scorers, was before dominated by Kareem for a long time, and before that ruled by another giant,
Wilt Chamberlain. We are obviously not missing his majesty
Michael Jordan, who played less than Bron and that along with Chamberlain and
Kevin Durant are the only ones who have better average points than James in the top 10 (27.1 points per game for LeBron compared to 30.1 of MJ and Wilt and 27.3 of KD).
Before passing Kareem ,James had to pass the Mailman,
Karl Malone, who had a solid career that would have been more remembered if his Utah Jazz had managed to take down Michael Jordan, but neither he nor John Stockton could. Lastly the top 5 are the legendary
Kobe Bryant and the before mentioned MJ.
In the sixth position, ahead of Chamberlain, we have the best European in NBA history (for now), Dirk Nowitzki, who through effort and perseverance surpassed the 30,000 points barrier. Wilt Chamberlain. Shaquille O'Neal, KD and Carmelo Anthony close the top 10.
