The
Sixth Man of the Year Award is one of the most coveted awards given out at the end of the NBA season. It celebrates the player who doesn't usually start with his team but still helps them in a huge way.
This season there are multiple players fighting hard for the prize and there is no clear frontrunner right now. The favourites are
Jordan Clarkson, Tim Hardaway Jr., Bogdan Bogdanovic and
Malik Monk.
Jordan Clarkson
There were rumors of Jordan Clarkson leaving the Utah Jazz last week but he remains a member of that team, and a pivotal one at that. He has once again been consistent all season long and could earn his second Sixth Man trophy when the postseason begins. He previously won in 2021.
Tim Hardaway Jr.
One of the brightest spots on the Mavericks' roster, Hardaway is putting up 17.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game this year.
The inclusion of Kyrie Irving has forced Hardaway to the bench but he is doing wonderful work while there. The Mavericks have currently won four games in a row and just one game behind the fifth spot in the Western Conference.
Bogdan Bogdanovic
Long considered one of the best sixth men in the league, Bogdan Bogdanovic is shooting 36% from the three-point line and is putting up 16.8 points per game this season. Although the Atlanta Hawks are still struggling to make a huge impact in the East, Bogdanovic is doing amazing things for the team.
Malik Monk
While there isn't a clear frontrunner for Sixth Man this season, Malik Monk may be getting close. Now a vital part of the team's offense, Monk is putting up 15.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game and has helped the Sacramento Kings remain playoff contenders.
