Toronto Raptors against Detroit Pistons will be one of the early duels scheduled for this NBA Wednesday. Detroit's season has been a decepointing one but recently they are starting to show some progress. Cade Cunningham has been the start for the Pistons and today he'll be facing RJ Barrett's team, who had a pretty solid match in the loss against the Nuggets.
Previous encounters:.
In their first meeting in Toronto on Nov. 19, the Raptors crushed the Pistons 142-113. However, Detroit had its revenge on Dec. 30, winning 129-127 at home to end their 28-game losing streak, tying an NBA record.
Recent Changes:
Much has changed for both teams since their last meeting. The Pistons (11-53), led by rising star Cade Cunningham, have shown signs of improvement of late. They have won two of their last three games, most recently a 114-97 home win over the Charlotte Hornets (16-49) on Monday. However, they still have the second-worst record in the NBA.
As for the Raptors (23-42), they have been hit by a rash of injuries, especially to first-time All-Star forward Scottie Barnes. They come into Wednesday with four straight losses and six of their last seven games lost, including tjat 125-119 loss on the road against the Denver Nuggets where they lost a 22-point lead.
TV and schedule
Wednesday's showdown between the Raptors and Pistons will take place at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. ET on Bally Sports DET and TSN. It can also be seen on NBA League Pass and FuboTV. In addition, fans can tune in to the showdown via radio with 97.1 FM The Ticket and TSN Radio 1050.
Prediction:
Given Toronto's injuries, Detroit appears to be in position to secure back-to-back wins for just the third time this season. The Pistons project to have an advantage on both offense and defense, so they should cover the spread (-3.5) at home. Also, given the mediocre defense of both teams and the Raptors' lack of size, it's easy to expect a high scoring game.
