Although
Kawhi Leonard was listed as questionable for tonight's matchup between the
Los Angeles Clippers and the
Minnesota Timberwolves, he started the game and played the first quarter, but thoracic spasms wouldn't allow him to continue after those twelve minutes of action.
Bad news for the Los Angeles Clippers, with the playoffs coming in less than 6 weeks, any injury could represent a serious problem, especially for a contender team that hopes to go deep into the postseason. This back injury has been bothering Kawhi Leonard for a while now, causing him to miss the last couple of games with his team.
Fortunately for the LA, they've build a deep team and have depth to replace Leonard and try to keep winning without him in the regular season. But they surely will need him at 100% as soon as the first round starts.
The Clippers are currently fourth in the Western Conference, with a 41-22 record. If they could maintain this position, they will have homecourt advantage for the first round. It's not time for relax tho, the New Orleans Pelicans are just two wins away from snatching that 4th spot, and they're on one of their best moments of the season, winning 7 of the last 10 games.
Kawhi isn't the only player dealing with injuries,
Paul George is making his comeback today after missing some games, and Russell Westbrook, key coming from the bench, is out and expected to come back days before the playoffs start.
Hopefully Leonard can recover and we can see a fully healthy Clippers team competing in the upcoming playoffs, something that injuries have private us from experiencing since he joined forces with PG in their hometown.
