The NBA trade deadline was rather uneventful this year, with many teams electing to stay put until the end of the season with the rosters they have now. Some teams, like the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers, didn't make any big moves, while others like the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks, only made minor adjustments.
A couple of teams did great work at the trade deadline and it's been paying off since.
Right before the deadline, the
New York Knicks added
OG Anunoby,
Bojan Bogdanovic,
Precious Achiuwa,
Alec Burks, and
Shake Milton. They also said goodbye to RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, Quentin Grimes, Evan Fournier, and Ryan Arcidiacono.
These additions have helped the team in great ways, although a number of injuries have limited the team's output. Still, there is time for Anunoby and others to get fully healthy and they could make a strong run in the playoffs.
Meanwhile, the
Phoenix Suns added Royce O'Neal,
Thaddeus Young, and Davis Roddy, while parting ways with Keita Bates-Diop, Jordan Goodwin, Chimezie Metua, and Yuta Watanabe.
O'Neale was the big acquisition here, and he hasn't had a lot of time with Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, and Devin Booker. But when he has, the Suns have been quite impressive and the combination of Durant and O'Neale are +16.9 points per 100 possession.
Both of these teams remain in the middle of the pack in their respective conferences but it's very clear that they have upgraded their roster with their mid-season moves.
