Otto Porter Jr. moved to the
Utah Jazz just last month after being traded by the
Toronto Raptors. However, at the time of the trade, it wasn't clear what his future in Utah would be like.
Now the answer has become clear: there is no future with the Jazz for Porter. On Monday morning, the team waived the former champion before he even played a game with them.
Porter has spent 11 seasons in the NBA and was once the third overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft after attending Georgetown for college and receiving a lot of accolades.
He started his career with the Washington Wizards, before moving to the Chicago Bulls,
Golden State Warriors and then finally the Raptors. He won a championship with the Warriors during the 2021-22 season.
When Porter was at his best, he was scoring almost 15 points a night and about 7 rebounds too. And even though he isn't producing numbers like that anymore, he has shown that he can be a versatile and helpful member of the bench for a number of teams.
At just 30 years old, Porter could be quite attractive to several NBA front offices. That being said, he is not eligible to appear on the playoff roster of any team because he was traded after March 1. That means that while he might find a new home in the league very soon, he won't help them during the postseason.
