In an amazing performance of their leading star,
DeMar DeRozan, the
Chicago Bulls defeated the
Indiana Pacers at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Indianápolis. They are now just 4 games away of the 8th spot, currently owned by Miami.
The story of the Chicago Bulls this last couple of seasons has been plagued with bad fortune and health issues. After forming what was supposed to be a big three with DeMar DeRozan,
Lonzo Ball and
Zach LaVine, almost three years ago, the injuries just wouldn't let that happen. The Bulls were actually a superb team while they were healthy, with some key pieces around them, like Nikola Vucevic,
Alex Caruso and good young players like Coby White. They were looking as the next big thing in the NBA.
Despite injuries to key players like LaVine and Patrick Williams, and with Ball still unavailable, the Bulls have remained competitive this season. Currently 9th in the Eastern Conference, they would be going to the play-in tournament if the season ended now.
DeMar DeRozan has been a key factor of this successful present despite all the health issues. The 34-year-old guard has remained consistent and showing up for his team over and over again.
Today it was just another proof of how great he is and how great he has been throughout his whole career. Against the Pacers DeMar exploded for 46 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. All of this while shooting 62% from the field. To put the cherry on top his remarkable output, with the Bulls down by two, DeRozan nailed the shot to tie the game and survive in regulation time. Just like Kobe Bryant (his idol) wearing the Bulls uniform. After that, Chicago took care of business and won the game n overtime 132-129.
