Los Angeles Lakers recently signed
Spencer Dinwiddie as a free
agent, right after the end of the transfer window.
The mid-season transfer window came to an end on Thursday as
teams finalised their strategy to strengthen their contingent for the remainder
of the season.
According to ESPN’s reporter Dave McMenamin, the Lakers signed Dinwiddie
on a non-tax level exception. Therefore, if they went on to win the NBA championship,
they would end up getting just a single dollar return.
Signing a player on such terms does not make a lot of sense but
well, the Lakers had not much option, especially considering how they were not able
to bring in anyone on the deadline day despite being linked with a host of
players.
The Lakers are going through a rather disappointing season where
they are placed on the fourth position in the Pacific Standings with 28 wins
and 26 defeats.
However, recently, the side has managed to gather some
positive results and won their last four out of five matches. In the previous
outing, the Lakers defeated the New Orleans Pelicans with a score of 122-139 at the crypto.com
Arena in Los Angeles on Friday.
The star of the show for the home side in that match was D'Angelo
Russell who ended up registering 30 points to go with two rebounds and five
assists.
