Teams in any franchise sports are always looking to find
players who can play together for a long period of time.
Therefore, it is no secret that a successful franchise
always has an eye on bringing in players who are younger and can deliver
the goods for the franchise.
Houston Rockets, all of a sudden, have two young players,
both of the same age, who could become the face of the franchise for years to
come.
Those are young center
Alperen Sengun and forward Amen
Thompson. Both players are 21 years old. Interestingly, both have been having a
very different kind of season.
Sengun, who is currently drafted in the contingent as a
center, is having a fabulous time averaging 21.2 points per game which is the
best by any Rockets player this season. That’s not it as he is also
contributing 9.4 rebounds and five assists per game as well.
On the other hand, Thompson, who is playing as a forward for
the franchise, is averaging 7.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
While the Rockets would’ve been hoping that both players
would play in the same lineup for a number of years, in current circumstances,
it is looking highly impossible.
One way this can happen is if Thompson, who has not been
great at shooting, becomes a guard and plays behind Sengun who has shown throughout
the season that he has the talent to play even further forward on the court.
