Both teams in tonight’s matchup are currently facing adversity.
The 76ers are dealing with an injury to MVP
Joel Embiid while the Warriors are
dealing with the struggling play by their veterans. However,
Andrew Wiggins put
on a show tonight and helped lead the
Golden State Warriors to a 127-104 victory
over the
Philadelphia 76ers at Wells Fargo Center.
This season for the Dubs hasn’t gone exactly as planned.
After winning a title in 2022 and trading for veteran point guard Chris Paul
this past offseason, the Warriors were looking to make another push for the
championship.
However, key pieces in their playoff run such as Andrew
Wiggins and Klay Thompson has struggled this season, and the heart and soul of
the team Draymond Green has been suspended multiple times. With the trade
deadline approaching, this may be the final season we see this dynasty big 3
play together.
Tonight the former 1st overall pick showed out,
finishing with 21 points and 10 rebounds on 64% shooting. Jonathan Kuminga
recorded 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists while Klay Thompson scored 18
points with 4 made three pointers.
For the 76ers, Tobias Harris finished with 13 points, 7
rebounds, and 3 assists. All-Star Tyrese Maxey ended with 12 points, 2
rebounds, and 3 assists while Ricky Council scored 17 points off the bench.
This win improves the Warriors to 23-25, which makes them 11th
in the Western Conference. Golden State is now 1 game behind the 10th seeded Utah
Jazz and 1 game above the 12th seeded Houston Rockets. They are 5-5 over their
last 10 games and currently on a 2-game winning streak. Their next game will be
tomorrow night against the Indiana Pacers.
Meanwhile, this loss drops the 76ers to 30-20, which makes
them 5th in the Eastern Conference. Philadelphia is now 2.5 games behind the 4th
seeded New York Knicks and 2 games above the 6th seeded Indiana Pacers. They
are 3-7 over their last 10 games and currently on a 3-game losing streak. Their
next game will be on Friday night against the Atlanta Hawks.
