Anthony Edwards debuts his newest AE 1s, inspired by his childhood 10U Atlanta Vikings football team and his time playing Quarterback.
On Sunday night, Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves faced off against the Los Angeles Lakers, which seemed like the perfect time to reveal his new AE1 sneakers, considering they are decorated in purple and gold just like Los Angeles team.
Edwards has said that his new sneakers draw inspiration from his days playing quarterback in high school. His school colors were also purple and gold.
They are also built with a honeycomb-like panel and gold shoelaces.
Many people don't know that Edwards is not only a great basketball player, but also a very talented football star too. In fact, he first got his start playing on the gridiron and wasn't very interested in basketball, at least not at first.
He played various positions during his years on a football team, such as running back, quarterback, and cornerback. But after witnessing his brothers fall in love with basketball, Edwards tried his hand at that sport and then started down a path to where he is now.
However, football will always hold a special player in the Timberwolves' star's heart, and that's actually where he earned the nickname "Ant Man."
