It was a wild game in State Farm Arena, as the Boston Celtics were up by 30 points in the second quarter before ultimately blowing that lead and losing the game 120-118 to the Atlanta Hawks despite 37 points from Jayson Tatum.
This contest featured a crazy turn of events. Boston was looking to clinch the #1 seed with a win, meaning that the playoffs would go through TD Garden. However, Atlanta had other plans as this comeback marked the largest comeback in the NBA this season and the largest comeback in franchise history for the Hawks.
The 5-time All-Star for the Celtics scored a game-high 37 points but that wasn’t enough. Jaylen Brown chipped in 24 points while Kristaps Porzingis had 17 points with 3 blocks. Payton Pritchard provided 15 points, 5 boards, and 6 assists off the bench.
Dejounte Murray played an all-around game in this one as he finished with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 15 assists, and 3 steals. De’Andre Hunter scored 24 points while Bogdan Bogdanovic had 22 points, and each player hit 4 threes. Clint Capela recorded 14 points, 12 boards, and 2 blocks.
Boston drops to 57-15 with this loss and is still one game away from clinching the 1st seed. Despite being the most dominant team this season, they have still shown some flaws. The Celtics have struggled to close tight games out and they have had a difficult time to put teams away when they have a large lead (for example in this game or against the Cavs earlier this month).
These issues need to be addressed in the playoffs if this team wants to win a championship. They are still 9-1 over their last 10 games and will look to get revenge on Thursday against the Hawks.
Atlanta improves to 32-39 with this win and prove that they can still compete even without Trae Young. This was a confidence boosting victory for the Hawks and they will look to build some momentum off this game. They are 5-5 over their last 10 games and will face off against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday.

WHAT A COMEBACK 😱 After going down 30 to the 1st-place Boston Celtics... the @ATLHawks come ALL THE WAY back to pull out the W! ▪️ Largest comeback in the NBA this season ▪️ Largest comeback in Hawks franchise history (since tracked in 1997-98)
