Despite a rough game for superstar
Stephen Curry, the
Golden State Warriors picked up a 97-84 victory over the
Charlotte Hornets on Friday, but the game didn't end on friendly terms. The game was marked by Steve Kerr's recent contract extension with the Bay Area team.
With about 12 seconds left in the contest,
Lester Quiñones shot a layup to avoid a shot clock violation. The Dubs already had the game in the bag, so this attempt to add point to the scoreboard upset some of the Hornet players.
Miles Bridges first shoved Quinones before
Grant Williams went head-to-head with the 23-year-old. Both players were calling each other out before getting separated by teammates and referees.
Technical fouls were assigned to Bridges, Williams, and Quinones, with the latter 2 both getting ejected. Due to NBA rules, players will have to pay fines for their unsportsmanlike conduct.
The Warriors guard recently became converted from a two-way player to a standard NBA contract. His base salary is around $550,000 this season, which is the lowest on the team.
Head coach Steve Kerr recently signed a two-year, $35 million extension, making him the highest paid coach in NBA history. When talking about this news, rookie
Brandin Podziemski joked "OMG, that's a lot of money. He's earned it, four championships with this group and looking to make it five this year, so he's definitely earned it."
Podz then stated that Kerr told the team that he would pay for Lester Quinones' ejection. The legendary coach thanked everybody over the years such as the players and coaching staff for making this journey a success.
The rookie concluded by stating that it was a big time thing for coach Kerr to say. His actions prove that he's a nice person and it shows discipline, unselfishness, and leadership.
The Warriors will look to move on from this incident and continue on with their hot streak, as they will face off against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday.
