Ever since he left the Miami Heat earlier this week, NBA fans have wondered where
Kyle Lowry will end up next. And some people are wondering if he'll end up anywhere at all. Despite his age and his history of injuries, Lowry could serve a strong purpose for a number of teams.
In his latest edition of
Sixers mailbag, Adam Aaronson explored the idea of the
Philadelphia 76ers signing the guard.
Aaronson said that the team could never have enough backup point guards and that he could see an upside in acquiring Lowry. He also believes that adding Lowry could help Patrick Beverley.
" If anything, adding Lowry to run the second unit and bolster some top-heavy lineups could help accentuate Beverley's skills by letting him focus solely on what he does best and revoking his extraneous ball-handling duties," Aaronson wrote.
The Sixers have a deep roster but they have also experienced their fair share of injuries throughout the year, leaving holes in the lineup. Lowry is of course no stranger to injuries either but if was signed, he could help fill voids in the backcourt.
The 17-year veteran is currently with the Charlotte Hornets after the Heat trade but it's assumed that that team will move him to another destination soon. There is also the chance that Charlotte just waives Lowry, who is set to be a free agent this summer. He is 37 years old and has experienced a lot of physical ailments over the last few years, which unfortunately makes him unattractive to many franchises.
