The
New York Knicks are the fifth-best team in the NBA Eastern Conference but they might try to manage some big moves in the next few weeks before the February 8th trade deadline. There are a number of players who help them improve their chances of going far in the playoffs but it's not clear which direction the front office will take.
As noted by Ian Begley of SNY, the Knicks have both
Alec Burks of the
Detroit Pistons and Bruce Brown of the Toronto Raptors on their radar. Meanwhile, some fans want the team to pursue players like Jordan Clarkson of the Utah Jazz or Malcolm Brogdon of the Portland Trail Blazers while others want them to try and land Dejounte Murray of the Atlanta Hawks.
Yahoo has pointed out that the Knicks could make a deal for Burks work, presumably by sending away Evan Fournier and draft compensation. But to make that happen, the Pistons would have to send an additional player to New York.
Throughout the season, the Knicks have impressed their very loyal, outspoken fanbase but there is clearly room for improvement.
Burks could be a substantial boost for the Knicks as he has been averaging 12.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists so far this year. Would his output be enough to bump them up a few places in the standings and turn them into guaranteed playoff contenders?
If the team really thinks he will help they will have to make some interesting maneuvers to get him.
