Luka Doncic recorded his 19th triple-double of the season in this game, and it was much needed as he led the Dallas Mavericks to a 115-105 victory over the Utah Jazz at Delta Center.
The 25-year-old finished with 29 points, 12 rebounds, and 13 assists. Co-star Kyrie Irving also had a big night, ending with 27 points with 4 made three-pointers. Daniel Gafford recorded 13 points, 11 boards, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 5 blocks while PJ Washington had 16 points. Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 13 points off the bench.
Lauri Markkanen scored a game-high 34 points with 7 boards and 6 made three-pointers. John Collins finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds while Collin Sexton had 20 points and 6 assists. Jordan Clarkson struggled in this one as he scored just 4 points and shot 0/7 from the field off the bench.
Dallas improves to 42-29 with this win and hold a 0.5 game lead over the Suns and Kings for the 6th seed. This was a huge victory for the Mavs as they want to avoid the play-in, so picking up every win that they can at this stage of the season is crucial.
They are 8-2 over their last 10 games and currently on a 4-game winning streak. Their next matchup will be tomorrow against the Sacramento Kings.
Utah drops to 29-43 with this loss. The Jazz will be looking forward to the off-season where they can revamp their roster around Lauri Markkanen. They are currently on a 6-game losing streak and will face off against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday.
