The
Boston Celtics center
Kristaps Porzingis believes that
his team’s attitude after taking a substantial lead was the primary reason for
the team’s defeat against the
Atlanta Hawks.
The Hawks came back from an unthinkable position and
registered an incredible win with a score of 120-118 at the State Farm Arena in
Atalanta. At the end of the second quarter, the Celtics had a lead of 18
points.
Porzingis was recently quoted in a report where he stated that
the change in attitude was the primary reason why the Celtics ended up
registering a forgettable defeat on the night.
"You go up 30, feel like everything's just smooth and
you relax," he said. "You give them some, and to that type of team,
if you relaxed too much, to give them some open looks, those guys can make
shots.
"I think we did a good job during the game, not
overreacting even though it's was a big contrast in what happened in the game.
It's the NBA. These kind of things happen. We just don't want to make this a
habit and it hasn't been a habit for us. We slipped one game."
The defeat did not impact the Celtics’ standing in the Eastern
Conference as they are still placed on the top with 57 wins and 15 defeats.
However, the win was a crucial one for the Hawks who are placed on the 10th
spot in the table with 32 wins and 29 defeats.
