The
Milwaukee Bucks were without superstar
Giannis Antetokounmpo in this contest, but that didn’t stop them from picking up a 113-106 victory over the
Los Angeles Clippers at Fiserv Forum thanks to a huge scoring output by
Damian Lillard.
After struggling in the first 10 games coached by Doc Rivers, the Bucks have turned things around following the All-Star break, as they are currently 6-0 and finding their rhythm at the right time.
Despite not having Giannis Antetokounmp tonight, Damian Lillard showed why Milwaukee traded for him this off-season. He popped off for 41 points on 55% shooting. Bobby Portis also erupted off the bench, finishing with 28 points and 16 rebounds on 12/18 shooting. Patrick Beverley contributed 12 points and 9 rebounds with 4 steals.
For the Clippers,
James Harden and
Paul George each finished with 29 points. The Beard hit 5/10 threes in his scoring output while PG13 made 6/10 triples.
Kawhi Leonard recorded 16 points and 4 steals in this one, but struggled as he shot just 6/19 from the field.
This was a massive victory for the Bucks as they improve to 41-21 and move a game above the Cleveland Cavaliers for the 2 seed. Milwaukee is proving to be a real threat in the East once again and is looking to be the biggest obstacle in the way of the Boston Celtics. They are 8-2 over their last 10 games and will play against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, this was a tough loss for the Clippers as they drop to 39-21 and remain 4th in the Western Conference. LA sits 3 games behind Minnesota for the top seed, so they are very well still in the hunt to win the West. They are 5-5 over their last 10 games and will face off against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.
