After last night overtime victory against the Indiana Pacers,
Chicago Bulls'
DeMar DeRozan joined non other than the late
Kobe Bryant as the second player in NBA History that reached the 400+ points in the fourth quarter and 50+ points in overtime throughout a single season. That's a true definition of clutch performance.
Kobe Bryant, winner of 5 NBA Championships with the Los Angeles Lakers, accomplished this in the 2006-07 regular season.
DeMar, on the other hand, has entered this greatness stage yesterday, with 16 more games to be played.
DeRozan had a fantastic game, scoring 46 points, a season high for him. 9 of those points took place in the 4th. He also dished 9 assists and grabbed 3 rebounds. In addition, the experienced small forward played solid defense, recording 2 steals and 1 blocked shot.
DeMar's big night earned him the right to climb up to the 32nd position between All-time scorers, leaving behind historic ballers like Elgin Baylor and
Dwyane Wade.
He even resembled Kobe with that final shot during regulation, with a beautful fade-away shot near the corner after inbounding.
During overtime, the 34-year-old kept his pace and scored 9 points of Chicago's 15 total after regulation, helping the Bulls get a remarkable road win and establishing himself as a clear candidate for winning the NBA Clutch player of the Year award.
Averaging 23.4 points 4.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists, DeRozan is key for the Bulls, currently 9th in the East and with Atlanta Hawks as their potential rivals in the play-in tournament. A great campaign for a franchise with several players ruled out for the season, but with the firm intention of winning without making any excuses.
