Denver Nuggets' star, Jamal Murray, sprained his ankle yesterday night, in the game where the Nuggets faced the Miami Heat in Mile High City. This happened during the 2nd quarter of the game and scared every Denver fan when he went out to the locker rooms and never got back to play. Now it seems like the luck is with the Nuggets as the update is that Jamal could be playing again as soon as Denver's next game, when the reigning champions will face the Los Angeles Lakers.
Every Nugget's fan heart stopped yesterday when Jamal Murray hurt his ankle. Despite counting the NBA's best player in Nikola Jokic, Denver knows that they need to have their 1-2 combo healthy if they are going for the repeat.
Murray was sensational last year, elevating his game when the Nuggets needed him the most. Jamal has already proved what he is capable of doing in the playoffs, torching every opponent faced. He was great against the Phoenix Suns and as unstoppable as the Joker himself against LeBron's Lakers in the Western Conference finals. Overall Murray averaged 26.1 points, 7.1 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 1.5 steals, while shooting 47% from the field, including a 39% from three and 93% from the free-throw line in the championship run.
Sources tell that Jamal is going to be flying to LA with the rest of the team and get ready to play against the Lakers, maybe receive some kind of treatment prior to the flight. If there's some hesitancy, if the ankle doesn't feels right, of course he won't play. The question is if he will be able to play effectively, otherwise he might compromise the whole team putting them in disadvantage.
If Jamal's ankle doesn't feel right, the Nuggets will most likely have him back for next Thursday duel, against the Phoenix Suns. This season, Denver's #27 is averaging 20.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 6.3 assists.
