The stars seem to always shine at Madison Square Garden, and
tonight it was
Stephen Curry who stole the spotlight, as he led the Golden State
Warriors to a victory over the
New York Knicks.
The Warriors have dominated the past decade and it looked like
it was the end of their dynasty. They started off the season slow and besides the
2-time MVP, majority of the core has taken a step back. However, once February
arrived this team has flipped a switch and have looked as deadly as ever.
Golden State is looking to reach the playoffs because they know that once they
are in, they will be a tough squad to take out.
The 3-point leader had himself a game tonight, ending with
31 points and 11 rebounds while hitting 8 triples. After a slow start in
Washington, he came out on fire in this one as he had 17 points and 10 rebounds
at halftime.
Jonathan Kuminga had a big night as well, finishing with 25 points
and 8 rebounds on 63% shooting.
Klay Thompson scored 16 points and hit 4 threes
off the bench while Draymond Green recorded 7 points, 10 rebounds, and 6
assists. Chris Paul scored 11 points in 26 minutes.
For the Knicks,
Jalen Brunson led the way with 27 points and
4 shots from downtown.
Josh Hart was a monster on the glass, finishing with 18
boards to go along with 14 points and 7 assists. Donte DiVincenzo scored 16
points while Miles McBride had 14 points off the bench.
Golden State improves to 31-28 with this win, sitting 4
games behind the 6th seeded Pelicans to avoid the play-in. This was
a huge win for the Warriors against a quality team, as they are starting to get
their groove back. They are 8-2 over their last 10 games and will look to continue
this hot streak tomorrow against the Toronto Raptors.
Meanwhile, the Knicks drop to 35-25 with this loss, sitting at
4th in the Eastern Conference. New York is fighting for a top 4 seed
to host a round 1 playoff series, so this loss isn’t ideal. They are on a bit
of a cold streak, going 3-7 over their last 10 games. Their next game is on
Sunday where they’ll look to bounce back against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
