Many NBA analysts believe that Nikola Jokic and his Denver Nuggets have a very good chance of returning to and winning the NBA Finals this year. But even though they might have the best odds of earning the Larry O'Brien trophy again, Jokic believes a different team is the greatest in the association.
Speaking of the Boston Celtics, Jokic said:
“They are a really good team. They have basically an answer for everything, matchup-wise, defense-wise, offense-wise. They are really a well-built team, and they’re playing really good, you know. That’s why they are the best team in the NBA right now. It’s really hard to play against that team. They’re long, tall. They defend really good. They have really smart players. It’s a great team.”
Jokic's comments come after his team's recent victory over the Celtics.
During that game, the Serbian big man scored yet another triple-double, posting 32 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists.
Jokic is right when he says that the Celtics are strong on both ends of the court. Because of their roster featuring Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, and Kristaps Porzingis, Boston is able to do a love with both their offense and defense.
That being said, they haven't defeated the Nuggets once this season and that is a troubling sign for the Celtics. If these are the two teams that emerge from their respective conferences, Boston will need to figure out a way to limit Jokic and his team or else they will hand them another championship win.
