The Milwaukee Bucks were favorites to beat the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday night. After all, the Grizzlies had a 19-36 record while the Bucks had a 35-20. Additionally, Milwaukee had a full roster while Memphis has been decimated by injuries and has very few known players participating in games right now.
Despite that, the Bucks fell 113-110 to the Grizzlies and new head coach Doc Rivers felt the ridicule from fans.
Following the game, Rivers blamed the loss on bad playing from some of the players hinting that they had their minds set on the All-Star vacation break., "We had some guys here, some guys in Cabo."
But people online immediately came out to roast Rivers because the Bucks now have a 3-7 record with him in charge as they enter the All-Star Break.
As a coach, it is his job to motivate his team and help them secure wins, especially over lesser teams like the Grizzlies. But he hasn't been able to connect with his squad, at least not so far.
Still, even though they are 3-7 under Rivers, the front office likely won't make any big changes by the end of the season. And even when the summer comes, Rivers will probably remain in his role, even if the team doesn't get much better.
While some players will be spending their All-Star Break relaxing or even going to "Cabo" like Rivers said, he will be busy coaching the Eastern Conference team. This will be the fourth time that he coached in the All-Star Game. That means he will get more time working with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard and, based on the Bucks' current record, it looks like they need more one-on-one time together.
