The hottest team in 2024 continued their hot streak in
dominating fashion. The
Cleveland Cavaliers easily defeated the Sacramento
Kings 136-110 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse behind another
Donovan Mitchell
masterpiece.
The Cavs organization hasn’t had much success without their homegrown
superstar, LeBron James. The King delivered the city its first championship in
50 years back in 2016, but ever since the 4-time champion left in 2018 things
haven’t been the same. Last season was Cleveland’s first appearance in the
playoffs since the 20-time All-Star’s departure, but it didn’t go as planned as
they lost in the first round to the New York Knicks. Fast forward to today and
the team from Ohio is set for another playoff appearance. With the way this
team is currently looking and with all their key players returning from injury,
this could be the year the Cavaliers make a deep playoff run.
Donovan Mitchell another outstanding performance tonight, finishing
with 29 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals with 5 made three pointers.
Max Strus scored 22 points on 6 made threes while Jarrett Allen had 19 points,
7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks. Evan Mobley recorded 11 points, 14
rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals, and a block.
Domantas Sabonis had a fabulous game as well, recording
another triple double with 12 points, 19 rebounds, and 15 assists. Harrison
Barnes scored 22 points on 6 made threes while De’Aaron Fox had 19 points, 4
rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, and 1 block.
This win improves the Cavs to 32-16 on the season. Cleveland
is now tied in the East standings with the Milwaukee Bucks for the 2 seed. They
are 9-1 over their last 10 games and currently on a 6-game winning streak.
Their next game will be on Wednesday night against the Washington Wizards.
On the other hand, this loss drops the Kings to 29-20, which
makes them 5th in the Western Conference. Sacramento is now 0.5 games above the
6th seeded Phoenix Suns and are 6-4 over their last 10 games. Their next game
will be on Wednesday night against the Detroit Pistons.
