Trade deadline coming on next Thursday, and the
Los Angeles Lakers need to pull the trigger at least with one good signing that allows them to find their optimal functioning.
Bruce Brown appears as that kind of signing for LeBron's squad. The good news is that the
Toronto Raptors are hearing offers for him, to keep acquiring assets for their re-building process.
The Raptors are reportedly seriously considering trading Brown before the trade window closes, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The player has only been with the Canadian franchise for a few weeks, when he arrived in the trade that sent Pascal Siakam to the Indiana Pacers, but the Raptors see a great opportunity to rebuild given the value that Bruce Brown himself possesses on the market right now.
This is where the Lakers come in. Wojnarowski explained that the Lakers were already interested last summer in Brown, whom they wanted to sign as a free agent for the non-contributing MLE of about $12.4 million. The player was interested until the Pacers offered him $45 million on a two-year deal.
Now that he is negotiable, and considering that the Los Angeles Lakers have lost one of their best defenders in Jarred Vanderbilt to injury, the hypothetical arrival of Bruce Brown would elevate the defensive aspect of the squad led by Darvin Ham for a final stretch of the regular season in which the Lakers will be playing for their participation in the playoffs for the ring.
Finally, Adrian Wojnarowski adds that alongside the Los Angeles Lakers is the New York Knicks as a contender to negotiate the transfer of Bruce Brown.
