Veteran shooting guard
Evan Fournier has revealed that he is
‘excited’ to have left his former franchise and is looking forward for a new
challenge.
The 31-year-old recently traded from the
New York Knicks to
Detroit Pistons in the mid-season transfer window.
Fournier was recently quoted in a report where he stated
that he is looking forward to having a chance to resurrect his career at his new
franchise.
"You go through physicals," he said. "You
meet everyone. You go through plays. A few practices. I'm really excited to
finally be out of New York. So, looking forward to a new opportunity."
When asked about his opinion regarding his new side, Fournier
was of the opinion that while its hard to judge from a couple of practice sessions,
it seems like a ‘young’ and ‘enthusiastic’ side.
“I mean, it's kind of hard to give you feedback on two
practices,” he said. “You know, but just from watching those last three games
and, you know, the couple of practices, a high -energy team with a lot of
enthusiasm, a hard -playing team. So yeah, so far so good. The practices were
good today.”
Talking about his role in the Nuggets side, the Saint-Maurice-born
stated that he will just be himself and will be open to helping the younger
players as well.
“You know, it's always, you know, tough questions,” he said.
“I'm just going to be myself, and if I can help, you know, the young guys with
what I see them out, you know, I'll gladly do it. First of all, I have to know
them.
“You know, I'm just like, get here and say, you know, maybe
you should do this, or, you know, I have to get them, you know, on my side, get
to know them personally and, you know, start working with them in that sense.”
