The
Los Angeles Lakers were in the news on the social media
platform about signing the former NBA champion
Dwight Howard as a free agent.
The news broke from an account on the social media platform
X — previously known as Twitter — where it was stated that the Lakers signed
the player on a 10-day contract.
Upon checking, it was noticed that the account with the name
of Adrian Wojnarowski is a parody account of ESPN’s senior NBA insider.
On authentic media handles, there was no news of the Lakers
making such a move despite going through a difficult campaign. Howard last time
played in the NBA in the 2021-22 season.
Since then, he has not featured in the competition. In that
season, he represented the Lakers in 60 matches where he ended up registering
6.2 points, four rebounds and 5.9 assists per game.
The Lakers are going through a difficult campaign as they
are currently placed in the ninth position in the Western Conference with just
37 wins and 32 defeats.
In their most recent outing, they managed to beat the Atlanta
Hawks with a score of 136-105 at the crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on
Monday. It was their first win after suffering back-to-back defeats against the
Sacramento Kings and the Golden State Warriors.
