Osceola Magic’s star guard
Mac McClung has won the NBA
G League
Most Valuable Player award for the 2023-24 season. We are bringing you five
reasons why the 25-year-old deserves recognition next season in the NBA.
Impressive as guard
McClung delivered some impressive performances during the NBA
G League current season, and that too while playing as a guard, historically not
an easy position to showcase talent. His height of 6’2 will be another positive
for him coming into the NBA where not many players who play as a guard have
similar height.
Two-time Slam Dunk champion
McClung can not only defend but he is one hell of a player
when it comes to producing dunk as well, something he showed in the 2022-23
season when he won the NBA Slam Dunk contest. He won the contest on two occasions,
thus making him a blockbuster prospect for fans.
Will not be a liability as reserve
McClung’s age and performances in the G League in the recent
season suggest that his quality is much better than the performance of some of
the reserves in the ongoing NBA Season. Having a player who can contribute just
over 12 points in 20 minutes on the court will help any side in the NBA.
Highest points per game in G League
McClung finished the season with 25.7 points per game which
is the best points per game return by any player in the G League. He was one of
the primary reasons why the Magic finished on top of the table.
MVP Winner in G League
Becoming an MVP is not a small thing, even if that achievement
was in the G League. McClung has done that with consistent performances and for
everything that he has done this season, he deserves a token of appreciation
next season.
