Former New York Knicks star,
Stephon Marbury, showed some love for the
Oklahoma City Thunder superstar,
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, in a recent interview in the "Ball Don't Stop" Podcast.
Stephon Marbury had an exciting NBA career. The flashy point guard was part of the legendary 1996 Draft and played in the NBA 14 seasons. Knowing what it is to be an All-Star and part of the All-NBA third team in the year 2000, the former player shared his appreciation for one of the league's new star.
Without wanting to get into controversy, "Starbury" said that for him, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the best canadian player ever.
"He's been consistent, he's consistently doing what he's been doing each and every night. There's no night where he's coming in and he's not performing at some type of level where he's creating opportunities for his teammates, or for himself. or on defense. He's doing something to give his team a chance to win every night that they step on a basketball court," Marbury said.
"His ability with the basketball and how he gets where he wants to get to with the basketball is different, is uncanny. It's not something that we've seen. You never know what's gonna happen. And then it's not like he's one of those guys flying through the air, dunking. His game is like really methodical," he concluded.
It's true, Shai is having an amazing season and Marbury pointed out perfectly his virtues. This generation of canadian players surely are inspired in one of the best point guards the league has ever seen,
Steve Nash. He was the one who put the North in basketball radar and now, players like Shai or
Jamal Murray are fluorishing in front of us.
