The
Golden State Warriors forward
Jonathan Kuminga has been
going through an interesting season. Back in January, the 21-year-old’s future with the franchise
was in doubt after the report emerged in The Athletic that he had ‘lost faith’
in
Steve Kerr.
That news broke after the Warriors' defeat to Nuggets where Kuminga
ended up sitting on the bench for the last 18 minutes.
But since then, things have changed for good for the young
forward and he has regularly featured in the games. He now has the
second-most minutes since then after Stephen Curry.
Usually, the kind of things that were quoted in that The Athletic
article will lead to a player leaving the franchise in the summer but as things
stand, it seems that the Goma-born is all set to continue playing a big role
for the Warriors this season and the beyond.
Kuminga, overall, has had an impressive season for the
Warriors where he has contributed 16.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists per
game.
In his most recent appearance for the franchise, he managed
to register 26 points, five rebounds and four assists against the Memphis
Grizzlies.
Kuminga’s best outing this season came in the match against
the Sacramento Kings where he registered 31 points to go with three rebounds
and three assists.
