In the midst of a challenging season for the Milwaukee Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo, the team's undisputed star, has issued a forceful call for his teammates to try harder and make the most of the opportunities available to them.
"Personally, I have to keep pushing," Antetokounmpo told The Athletic. "If I have to talk more in film sessions like I've been doing all year, if I have to jer grab the board and write something, if I don't, I don't know, but you can't just pass up opportunities like this."
Giannis' words reflect his frustration and his determination to take the team to new heights. Despite his own outstanding performance, the two-time NBA MVP feels there is more to do, more to achieve.
"I feel like I don't want to look back and say, 'Damn, I had some great teams and I couldn't get over the hump,'" Giannis added. "We have to stop feeling sorry for ourselves. I'm tired of it. We have to stop doing that. Things are not going to be given to us. We have to go and take them. I've played with guys who never felt bad about themselves. They came, they did their job, they went home, they did their job, they went home, they did their job. That's what we have to do. We're not doing it right now, but hopefully we can do it."
The Bucks' star player's remarks are a reminder to the entire team that success doesn't come on its own. It takes effort, commitment and a winning mentality. Antetokounmpo is willing to lead by example, but knows that teamwork is critical to achieving goals.
