Golden State Warriors small forward,
Andrew Wiggins, returned to the Bay and practiced with his team after missing four straight games due to personal reasons. The Warriors have expressed full support towards Wiggins' situation and surely they are glad to have him back at this time, when his presence is crucial for their playoff push.
Andrew Wiggins has been dealing with personal issues since last season. In the 2022-23 campaign, 'Wiggs' missed several games due to a similar situation.
Despite being key for the team's offense and defense, the Warriors found in Moses Moody a solid replacement for Wiggins. Throughout the 4 games in which the talented small forward was absent, Golden State won three of their duels only to lose by a very wide margin against the Boston Celtics last Sunday.
Andrew is expected to play in the beginning of a home-stretch of games tomorrow, when the Warriors will be receiving the visit of the
Milwaukee Bucks. On Thursday it's Chicago time and finally, next Saturday they'll be hosting the game against Victor Wembanyama's
San Antonio Spurs.
The 29-year-old wing player is averaging 12.7 points per game, 4.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists, all numbers below his career standards, which serves as a evidence of how much this personal situation is affecting Wiggins ability to play at his best.
Golden State is currently 10th in the Western Conference, the last play-in spot available. Though this 2023-24 has been a very challenging season for the franchise, with a lot of things happening besides basketball, the Warriors find themselves only three victories away of the 6th spot which grants a direct trip to the upcoming playoffs. Having Andrew Wiggins back for this series of home games could boost the teams' confidence and maybe ignite a streak of wins to keep climbing up the playoffs standings.
