The NBA world was beside itself when Gradey Dick of the Toronto Raptors and Anthony Black of the Orlando Magic decided to swap jerseys after a recent game against one another. The photos and video of the two men holding their jerseys in a very specific way had quite a few people laughing.
Dick was asked about the Black-Dick jersey swap by the press and said that he did it not for a laugh but because the Magic player is an old friend.
“Guys jersey swap with their boys, and that's my friend," Dick said. He mentioned that he and Black go way back and played with each other when they were young. That was the basis for the jersey swap, and the humorous combination of names had nothing to do with it.
This is Dick's first season with the Raptors after being chosen as the 13th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. So far this season, he is averaging 6.9 points and 2 rebounds per game. Beyond the numbers, he has added a lot of personality and charm to the team and has become a fan favorite for many.
As for Black, he was the sixth overall draft pick in 2023 and has produced 4.8 points and 2.2 rebounds for his team so far this year.
Both young rookies are starting to make names for themselves but everyone can agree that they create something very special when they combine those names.
Dick might say that he was swapping jerseys with Black simply because they are friends but most people agree that there something more to this choice.
