USA men’s national team managing director Grant Hill has revealed
that the reason behind not selecting
Golden State Warriors star
Draymond Green for
the Olympics 2024.
The 33-year-old became the most high-profile snub from the
national contingent for the mega-event scheduled to take place in the summer
this year in the French capital Paris.
Hill was recently quoted in a report where he stated that
Green was not selected for this year’s mega-event because of his suspension
record.
“His contributions have been significant,” said Hill. “He is
a real part of the legacy of this organization for his excellence. But in lieu
[sic] of what’s transpired this year, we made a decision to not have him on
this list.”
“We all understand and certainly have great respect and
sensitivity to this particular period in his career and he’s working through
some things both on and off the court. We at USA Basketball, we want to support
him on his journey. We just didn’t feel that playing over the summer gives him
the best opportunity to do what he needs to do.”
Green is having a rather below-par season for the Warriors
this time around where he is averaging 9.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.5 assists
per game.
