NBA journalist for the Athletic Shams Charania has stated
that
Dallas Mavericks star
Kyrie Irving will be a great addition to the
Team USA for the Olympics.
There have been reports that the 31-year-old might well be
included in the team full of superstars such as LeBron James, Stephen Curry and
Joel Embiid for the mega-event which will be played in the French capital city
of Paris in the summer later this year.
Charania was recently quoted in a report where he stated
that Irving might well prove to be an excellent addition to the squad considering
his past experiences.
"He was the 2014 World Cup MVP," said Charania.
"He was on the 2016 Olympic team that won the gold medal. I think that he's
going to be a name to continue to monitor for Team USA. A lot of that has been
about this season. I don't think that a lot of people expected him to be a name
that we were gonna be talking about for Team USA."
Irving, who plays as a point guard, is having a fabulous
season for the franchise where he is contributing 25.4 points per game which is
the second-best by a Mavericks player, only behind Luka Doncic. That’s not it
as he is also contributing 5.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.
