Nate Robinson was an important part of multiple teams during his 11 years in the NBA. He played for the New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder, and others.
After retiring in 2016, Robinson has faced a number of health problems, including very serious ones regarding his kidneys.
Recently speaking with the Daily Mail, Robinson revealed that he has been going through dialysis, but doesn't believe he will live much longer if he doesn't get a full kidney transplant.
"I know that I don't have long if I can't get a kidney," Robinson said. "I know I'm not going to have long to live. So I just want to make the best of it as much as I can.
He explained why the current treatment he has won't be enough to keep him around for the future.
"Some people's body reject dialysis," Robinson added. "And thank God mine accepts it and I can live. If I didn't go to dialysis, I wouldn't live probably longer than a week or two."
Robinson has been experiencing health troubles for years now. In fact, he first found out about his kidney issues back in 2006, just a year into his NBA career. The cause of the kidney problems was high blood pressure.
Despite the health problems, Robinson went on to have a very successful career. At just five-foot-nine, Robinson became the first NBA player to win the Slam Dunk Contest three times. He also had some very impressive dunks over much bigger players, such as
Shaquille O'Neal and Yao Ming.
Robinson has been very open about his health struggles and will hopefully be candid about his recovery too.
