Seeing Brad Stevens look at Jrue like this at his opening presser, it was only a matter of time before the extension came 😂☘️ When Brad said he has been trying to get Jrue Holiday on the #Celtics roster for years, he wasn’t lying.
Jrue Holiday, Boston Celtics' veteran point guard agreed on a 4-year, $135M contract extension with the legendary franchise. Holiday arrived to the city this summer after being involved in the blockbuster trade that landed Damian Lillard with the Milwaukee Bucks, his former team.
Excellent news for Boston fans, as securing Holiday for the years to come was one of the remaining goals for the Celtics' front office. Jrue has been a fantastic addition to an already formidable team. The experienced guard is renoun for being one of the NBA's top perimeter defenders and a solid scorer.
Holiday is a big point guard, listed at 6-4 and 205 lb, which means he can take advantage of his frame when attacking smaller guards. He can post them and punish them with ease with a solid mid-range jumper or going all the way to the hoop. This year he also has made a major improvement with his three-point shot, as Boston's offense has so many weapons that it's constantly generating open looks for every team member.
This campaign, Holiday has played 68 games, proving that his durability is also something worthy of mentioning. He's averaging 12.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game, while shooting 48% from the field and an astonishing 43.1% from long distance.
The 33-year old will become the fourth player to sign a fully guaranteed deal worth more than $100 million at his age or older, joining big names such asLeBron James, Steph Curry and Al Horford, also part of Boston's squad.
