Former Los Angeles Lakers legendary star Shaquille O’Neal
has mocked
Brooklyn Nets guard
Ben Simmons earning millions despite having constant
fitness struggles.
The 27-year-old has been ruled out for the remainder of the ongoing
campaign with a back injury. In the last three seasons, he has only managed to
play 57 games in the NBA. He missed the whole of the 2021-22 campaign because of a
back injury as well.
O’Neal, who is often regarded as one of the best players in
the history of the NBA, took a dig at Simmons and stated that he would like to
know how the player has managed to earn $80 million in three seasons despite
playing just 50-odd games.
"I'd wanna learn how you can make $80 million and play
55 games,” he said. “Teach me how you can play 55 games in 3 seasons and get
$30 million, $40 million, and get another $40 million just by saying your back
hurt."
Simmons, who last played for the Nets in the match against the
Memphis Grizzlies, before getting injured, contributed 6.1 points, 7.9 rebounds
and 5.7 assists per game.
His best outing in the ongoing campaign came in the match
against the San Antonio Spurs where he registered 13 points to go with three
rebounds and five assists.
