The world of sports, with its lights and shadows, often shows us the glamorous side of athletes' lives: million-dollar contracts, fame, success on the court. Behind the glittering facade, however, lie stories of struggle, pain and resilience that remind us of the humanity we share. The latest shocking testimony has been given by NBA star John Wall, who has revealed having faced moments of extreme darkness, including suicidal thoughts.
In an intimate conversation with Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller on 'The OGs Show,' Wall openly shared his most painful experiences. He confessed to finding himself on the brink, facing the idea of suicide, having placed a gun to his head not once, but twice. These dark moments, he reveals, were the culmination of a series of personal tragedies and internal struggles that threatened to consume him completely.
"I know what it's like... And I try to tell people that the mental health issue is very serious. I had to go get a therapist after that. If it wasn't for my two kids, I would have killed myself. I put a gun to my head twice and a lot of people close to me, my friends at the time, didn't know," Wall shared on 'The OGs Show'.
"There was a video that came out, where I was making street gang gestures and stuff like that, it was when I was in my darkest moment, trying to find happiness.... But I wanted to kill myself and it was like I was walking away from their Earth... I'm failing my children," he described.
Wall's story is a heartbreaking reminder that even those who seem to have it all may be struggling in silence. The pressure of success, combined with devastating injuries and personal loss, led him to a place of despair from which he struggled to emerge. "It's the darkest place I've ever been. I thought about killing myself," Wall said in a previous interview with 'NBC Sports,' recalling the most difficult moments of his life.
Since entering the NBA as the first pick in the 2010 Draft, John Wall has been a prominent figure in professional basketball. With multiple All-Star Game appearances and million-dollar contracts, his career was at its peak when injuries began to sap his path. A severe Achilles injury, combined with the loss of loved ones during the COVID-19 pandemic, pushed him to the limit of his physical and mental endurance.
