The
Dallas Mavericks, led by slovenian superstar point guard
Luka Doncic, are an unpredictable team. Based on Luka's style of play, the Mavs have been shifting directions this season, perhaps influenced by injuries and roster changes. However, they present themselves as a dangerous squad, with the ability and the talent to succeed when they find their rhythm.
Kyrie Irving has been instrumental in introducing a faster pace to the Mavs tipically methodical offense, complementing Doncic's playstyle. Their partnership has turned out to be effective, with Dallas performing very well when both of them are on court.
Dallas role players need to step up as well.
Daniel Gafford has been playing great, but that's not enough, Tim Hardaway Jr, P.J. Washington and
Dante Exum are very good players that can improve their current performances and take some of the offensive load off Doncic and Irving.
Of course, the Mavericks success relies on Luka. Doncic leads the NBA in scoring and in assists per game. He has been a constant presence on the court, giving his 100%, playing at a high level despite that mentioned inconsistency. Doncic's ability to create scoring opportunities for himself and for his teammates has been absolutely crucial for the team's offensive efficiency.
Having a rollercoaster of a season, Dallas have managed to remain in playoff contention. Thanks largely to Luka Doncic's exceptional level of play, largely making his case for winning this year's MVP. Their future depends on them, currently on a 4-game winning streak, perhaps they are now finding the right path to consistency. If this is true, they might still have a chance to earn a direct trip to the upcoming playoffs.
