F**k it, Kevin Huerter edit 🔥
Sacramento Kings' shooting guard, Kevin Huerter, had to exit the game against the Memphis Grizzlies a week ago, after hurting his shoulder. Studies showed afterwards that Huerter dislocated his left shoulder and had a labral tear. The Kings have now confirmed that their player will undergo surgery to repair the injury and will be out for the remainder of the season.
Kevin Huerter was the starting shooting guard for the team, providing solid scoring from long range and being a valuable asset on defense with his big frame. Losing him is a significant blow for Sacramento's expectations to avoid the play-in tournament.
The shooting guard was averaging 10.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 24.4 minutes, shooting 45% from the field and a respectable 36.1% from long distance, and proved to be a valuable asset last year during the playoffs, elevating his production to 15.2 points and his efficiency, 48.5% from the field and 40% from three.
The franchise is on the 8th spot in the grueling Western Conference, two games away from that coveted 6th place, currently holded by the Dallas Mavericks. If the regular season ended today, they'll have to defeat the 7th seeded Phoenix Suns as visitors in order to gain access to the NBA Playoffs. The Los Angeles Lakers are right behind them, with a 41-32 record.
Without Huerter, Sacramento will have to rely more on their stars, Domantas Sabonis and De'Aaron Fox. And perhaps move to the starting lineup to their Sixth man of the Year candidate, Malik Monk.
Just ten more games until the end of the season, and a lot at stake. The Kings will have a chance to turn the story around tonight, when they'll be facing Luka Doncic's Dallas Mavericks in California, in an attempt to steal that last spot that gives direct playoff access.
