Los Angeles Clippers superstar, Kawhi Leonard, is reportedly out of tonight's matchup vs the Sacramento Kings due to a knee soreness. The 2-time NBA Champion will head back to LA to receive the proper treatment.
Bad news for the LA Clippers, who will be facing the Kings without their main weapon. Kawhi Leonard is dealing with a knee injury since the Clippers last matchup against the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday night.
Tonight's game in Sacramento could be crucial for both franchises. On one hand, the Clippers are currently 4th in the West but with this phenomenal winning streak that Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks are having, it wouldn't be a surprise if they can steal LA's spot. The top four seededs have homecourt advantage for the first round. It's not something the Clippers would want to give away. Especially if they play against Luka's squad.
Next Thursday, Kawhi's team will be receiving the visit of the reigning champions Denver Nuggets. Another huge Western Conference showdown. Leonard is expected to be in available for that matchup.
Replacing the former NBA Defensive player of the year in the starting lineup will be Norman Powell. Despite having dealt with some health issues, the Clippers team has a great bench, filled with great players like Powell that can shine in the biggest scenarios.
Kawhi had his most productive season in a while, playing 68 games with LA, averaging 23.7 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists, shooting 52.5% from the field and an awesome 41.7% from long distance.
