The
Milwaukee Bucks point guard
Patrick Beverley believes that
the presence of
Joel Embiid does not give the
Philadelphia 76ers any guarantee
regarding a place in the playoffs.
The Sixers are currently placed in the eighth position in
the Eastern Conference with 42 wins and 35 defeats. They are slightly behind the
sixth-placed Indiana Pacers who have registered 43 wins and 34 defeats.
If the Sixers fail to book their place in the top six by the
end of the regular season, they will have to take part in the play-in
tournament to battle for the seventh and eighth spot in the playoffs.
Beverley was recently quoted in a report where he stated
that the presence of someone like Embiid does not give any guarantee to the Sixers
for a spot in the playoffs as the play-in tournament is like ‘March Madness’
where anything can happen.
“The play-in is just one game though. That’s the thing,” he
said. “It is so tough, especially if you never played in it before. I am not
discrediting Philly at all.
“Having Joel in any f**king game makes you one of the top
teams having him healthy. But there’s no feel; it’s just one game. It is like
March Madness; anything can happen.”
Embiid has recently
returned to fitness after staying on the sidelines for more than two months because
of an injury concern. Since his return, the Sixers have won their matches against
the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Miami Heat.
