In just a matter of days, the season may be over for the
Los Angeles Lakers. They will likely participate in the Play-In Tournament again and if they don't handle that well, they will have an extra long summer vacation.
The
NBA Draft is just a couple of months away and the Lakers should be considering how they use their picks in order to improve the team for 2024-25 and beyond.
They have a few choices they can make, including a very well-known one.
Of course,
Bronny James remains the biggest question mark for the Lakers. The team isn't sure if he will even remain in the draft in a few months. He may elect to remain in college. But if he does keep his name in contention, the Lakers might try to sign him, as a way to make his father happy and also invest in an up-and-coming player who has already shown some strong defensive skills.
The Lakers could also sign Jared McCain, the Duke player who could greatly help out the Lakers with their three-point shooting. Last season, he posted 14.4 points, 5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. Kel'El Ware is another young player who could have a lot of promise, especially because the Lakers are always looking for more help to support Anthony Davis in the frontcourt.
Finally, the team could take a run at
Zach Edey, the Purdue star who could be a great addition to the team's lineup. At seven-foot-four, he can be a great help when it comes to blocks, rebounds, and, hopefully, assists.
No matter which direction the Lakers take, they need to make a choice that will build the foundation for a post-LeBron James era.
