Back at the beginning of February,
Milwaukee Bucks star
Khris Middleton suffered an ankle sprain due to landing Kevin Durant's foot in the first quarter of a game against the Phoenix Suns.
Middleton hasn't played a game since but his Bucks have continued to get better despite his absence.
According to recent comments he made to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Middleton explained how the injury occurred and sounded hopeful about an upcoming return.
“After it happened I tried to play, run it off a little bit, see if it was going to loosen up or whatever. Just didn’t. Didn’t feel comfortable. Went into the back, tried to get re-taped, and as soon as I took my shoe off it just blew up. So had to shut it down," Middleton said.
He then explained that he's been progressing through the recovery process and hasn't experienced any setbacks. There is a chance that he could suit back up and play with the Bucks during their brief, current road trip.
“I haven’t had setbacks, just taken a little bit maybe a day or two longer, a week or two longer or whatever, but it’s the position I’m in right now,” he said.
“Just haven’t been able to get to that final step to get out there and play,” he said. “But I’ve been working hard. Been able to get on the court the last couple weeks but just haven’t been able to go 100%," he added.
Middleton came into the season mending an injury and started the year on a minutes restriction. During his 43 games in 2023-24, Middleton has averaged 14.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, the Bucks have climbed back up to the second seed in the East recently, because of their strong 7-3 run during the last ten games.
