The NBA trade deadline is now only a few days away and the Los Angeles Lakers are surely working hard behind the scenes to create some important trades to help the team. One might involve Dejounte Murry of the Atlanta Hawks, who has been targeted by the Lakers for weeks now.
Anthony Irwin of Audacity Sports says that the Lakers are pushing to get Murray, partly because LeBron James and his representatives at Klutch Sports have made it clear that they want him.
"One thing that has become crystal clear either through (LeBron James) subtweets, vague response when asked about the infamous hourglass, and not-so-subtle flirting with the city of New York over the weekend is that LeBron and Klutch Sports have a desired outcome to this deadline," Irwin wrote. "James and the Klutch contingent near the Lakers want (Dejounte) Murray."
Murray has been the top choice for LA for a while but there is a big roadblock getting in the way of shipping him out to the Lakers: the Hawks aren't impressed by any proposed offers.
Most reports state that the Lakers are willing to part ways with D'Angelo Russell but that's not the player the Hawks desire. Instead, Atlanta wants Austin Reaves. They don't want another point guard to play alongside Trae Young but envision a spot for Reaves on their backcourt.
The Lakers have become more and more insistent that Reaves isn't going anywhere but that could kill any potential deal to get Murray. But with James apparently demanding Murray, his team's front office will have an even bigger reason to fight hard for the Hawks star.
These two teams have been dancing around each other for weeks now and with February 8 just hours away, the dance will heat up very soon.
